Kitchen Sinks: Questions We Get Asked
Should I choose a top mount or an undermount kitchen sink?
A top mount sink sits on the worktop with a rim around the edge, so it is simple to fit and easy to replace. An undermount sink is fixed under a stone or solid surface top, so you can wipe crumbs straight into the bowl. Undermount sinks need a suitable worktop and more careful installation.
Stainless steel or granite sink, which is better?
Stainless steel is durable, hygienic and handles hot pots well. Granite composite sinks, such as Hansgrohe SilicaTec, are quieter, resist scratches and stains, and come in solid colours. Both last for many years with basic care.
Single bowl or double bowl?
A large single bowl fits woks, trays and big pots. A double bowl lets you wash and rinse, or prep and wash, at the same time. For a 60cm cabinet a single bowl is common; a double bowl usually needs a 90cm cabinet.
Does the sink come with the waste and trap?
It depends on the model. Some sinks include the sink waste and bottle trap, which is stated on the product page. Our team can confirm what is included before you buy.
Is there a full guide to choosing a kitchen sink?
Yes. Our kitchen sink guide compares stainless steel and granite, top mount and undermount, and single and double bowls.
